Summer Weight Loss Motivation Tips

Staying motivated to lose weight is challenging any time of the year, but it can be especially challenging in the summer, when the focus shifts to fun and relaxation.

But it doesn’t have to be so difficult. With a few simple strategies, you can totally stay motivated to lose weight all summer long – and have fun while doing it!

You just need to think things through and do a little planning ahead. And I’m here to help, with some easy tips and ideas for keeping your head in the game and your focus on weight loss.

Tips to Stay Motivated for Weight Loss – All Summer Long!

Move Your Cardio Outdoors

Summer is the best time to take your fitness and exercise routine outdoors. In addition to enjoying some sunshine and getting some fresh air, outdoor fitness is extremely motivating. It’s something new, and it offers the opportunity to challenge your body in a new way. Outdoor fitness involves uneven grounding and more unpredictable terrain, removing a lot of the boredom and monotony of the treadmill.

Take Up a Summer Sport

While it’s not necessary that you become an athlete this summer, taking up a sport is a great way to stay motivated for weight loss, even if it’s for fun. Sports incorporate total body movements that are unlike those you’re doing at the gym, so they challenge your body in very different ways. They also get you energized while keeping you toned and fit.

Next time you hit the beach or the park, take a Frisbee or volleyball with you. You’ll work up a decent sweat and burn a lot of calories in the process. This is an easy way to make losing weight fun!

Get Healthy at the Barbecue

Barbecuing is one of my favorite parts of summer, and believe it or not, you can still enjoy all that great-tasting summer food while staying fit and losing weight. This is where a little planning can come in handy. Start simple, by ensuring that you always get some veggies on your plate and don’t overdo the carbs and fat. When it comes to the more indulgent items, just try to keep your portion sizes down.

Choose a Summer Fitness Goal

Fitness remains one of the best ways to maintain weight loss motivation. What I recommend doing in the summer is coming up with a really focused fitness goal, as a way of sort of defining your summer weight loss routine.
